Da Movies

I am apparently too lazy to write reviews for 10 movies hahahah so I'll just put in a grade and a small comment ;).

TAEGUKGI 87/100
(Very good one, showed deeper conflict than that of "Saving Private Ryan", a bit too melodramatic and exaggarative at times )

SPRING SUMMER WINTER FALL AND SPRING AGAIN 91/100
(Impressive, I don't know the name of a single character and there's hardly any dialogue in this one, but the moral values are so plentiful and subtle plus the magnificent cinematography makes this one amongst my all time favorites)

KONTROLL 68/100
(Below my expectation, heard rave reviews about this one, I actually sacrificed watching Oldboy for this one, The action sequence was "nanggung", the romantic part was "nanggung" also, the cinematography was not bad though)

THUMBSUCKER 70/100
(The story wasn't really original, just add a little twist that the protagonist loved to suck his thumb. The delivery was not bad, but it lacked a punch-line...and the ending was disappointing)

2046 83/100
(My first Wong-Kar-Wai movie. Very stylistic in terms of the scenes and the backgrounds. The story was really imaginative and gave an interesting perspective about decisions in relationship. I still don't get some part of the movie but I'm already impressed. Oh yeah...Zhang Ziyi looked as good as ever!)

DEAR FRANKIE 84/100
(When u heard the story at first, it may sound unoriginal and melodramatic, but the execution was excellent and a few of the crowd shed a tear, great acting job by the kid and I like the ending)

5x2 61/100
(At last, a French movie, I can test my french a little.. well..that's what I thought at first. The movie itself was told in reverse order divided by 5 parts. There r clues here n there to solve the "riddle". But all those fancy editing and reverse plot thing looked so gimmicky and unnecessary. I don't really care or have sympathy for the characters...disappointing from Francois Ozone)

NOI ALBINOI 85/100
(This movie is one of the kind. You know, right after I watched it, it looked so so to me, but after a few days my opinion shifted a bit. It is a very good one. The character of Noi, a genius slacker who were "trapped" in a "deserted" village in Iceland was just great. The funny scenes flew really naturally. I really like the scene where he "tricked" a slot machine into getting him a jackpot, pure genius hahaha. The ending was very good and ironic)

SOPHIE SCHOLL 76/100
(This movie looked like a documentary to me because of its brutal accuracy to the actual event. So accurate that the entertainment value was not so high. It's filled with long conversations (in German..ahhhhhhh) that made me keep looking at the subtitles. The acting by Julia Jentsch (Sophie Scholl) was second to none. The best in Jiffest. That says a lot. Moviewise, great... Entertainmentwise..hard to watch)
