Jiffest Trip
It's mid december in Jakarta. It's time for the Film Festival that I have been waiting for, Jakarta International Film Festival alias Jiffest. I was so excited that I bought the Gold member tickets (good for 10 movies) for 100k about a week before the festival (9-18 December). Here is the list of movies that I have bought the ticket for,
1. Taegukgi (The Brotherhood of War) - South Korea
A war movie about two brothers who ended up having to fight for the South side in Korean war.
2. Spring, Summer,Fall, Winter and Spring Again - South Korea
Another Korean movie, this time is a drama about the life of a monk and his apprentice, I heard about the great cinematography on this one.
3. Kontroll - Hungary
About the life of the ticket guys for underground train
4. Thumbsucker - USA
Kind of self explanatory, Keanu Reeves as a dentist?? yea rite...also about teenage angst.
5. 2046 - Hong Kong
Kind of a sequel from "In the Mood of Love", another masterpiece from Wong Kar Wai with appearance from Tony Leung, Zhang Ziyi, Maggie Cheung, Gong Li.
6. Dear Frankie - UK
There's a deaf kid who were left by his dad. His mom pretended that his dad went sailing around the world and sent him letters.
7. Vital - Japan
After a car crash and coma, a guy tried to get his memory back by going back to medical school and examining his dead girlfriend's body.
8. 5x2 - France
A couple got a divorce, and this movie tracked the couple back til they first met, and reveal something interesting.
9. Sophie Scholl - Germany
A powerful, true story. Sophie and Hans are members of a resistance group against the Nazi regime. When the siblings hand flyers out on campus, they are arrested by the Gestapo. Sophie manages to bluff the interrogating officer, Robert Mohr, but Hans finally confesses everything. Moved by Sophie's uncommon bravery, Mohr offers her a way out – but at the price of betraying her ideals. She refuses the offer, sealing her fate. The Scholls are then accused of high treason.
10. Noi Albinoi - Iceland
A story of 17-years old guy named Noi who drift through life in Iceland's fjords.
fuhh...that's a long listt....cannot wait to watch all of em...reviews comin up....
